Map your path to the future

  • On 10 March 2021

Those who are not part of the generation of digital natives can fully appreciate the revolution that exploded in 2005 with the birth of Google Maps. The “Generation Z” takes it for granted, but for all the others it meant an epochal change: no more dusty maps on the car seats or inside the backpack (among other things: useless tools in front of the first road construction site); stop to intentionally false or approximate indications provided by the coveted crossed pedestrian after hours of useless wandering; there was perhaps a bit of poetry in the stops at sports bars or in the town’s trattorias to ask the native “wise men” for directions, but how much time and how much energy did they require …

Today, with our mobile phone, we can set the destination of our trip, know the traffic information in real time, choose the route that suits us best; more: once in a place unknown to us, we can visualize its morphology and discover all the services (bars, hotels, restaurants, laundries…) that are around us.

This is precisely the motivation that prompted SAP, in the mid-2010s, to develop the GEF: Geographical Enablement Framework.

The idea is as simple and effective as Columbus’s egg: to literally map the business. Once the geographic area of our interest has been identified, view what concerns the customer’s reality: assets, customers, suppliers, prospects … Immediately and graphically enjoy all the essential information for the business relating to the geographic area of interest, from any device , thanks to the native integration with SAP FIORI or with any SoftWare to generate certified APP.

The calculation potential provided by the HANA Suite (prerequisite for the GEF) and the usual breadth of customization offered by SAP products, allow you to integrate all aspects of the business with standard geographic maps, so as to have under control not only the salient and crucial to your business, but also the “boundary conditions” that can allow you to develop, integrate and evolve the company’s potential in the best possible way.

A real highway towards the future, with complete control of what is in place, of what is possible, and of the surrounding factors that can facilitate the journey.

Preparing for the trip is not exactly simple: you need to enable your HANA DB to the GIS (Geographic Information System), integrate it with a certified ESRI (Environmental System Research Institute) database, customize the SAP modules of interest so as to integrate them with the new ones. geospatial functionality.

PL3 & Partners has the expertise and experience to best carry out these activities; our consultants boast successful projects in direct collaboration with SAP (given the complexity and relative novelty of the solution) involving high-level interlocutors (including the largest real estate in Europe).

Always attentive to the innovations proposed by our partner SAP, we have already acquired expertise in the integration of geospatial services offered by the SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) and we are able to support the following integrations:

As usual, we are not looking for the ideal solution, but the right solution for you.
